Toothed belt drives

Toothed belt drives convert rotary motion into linear motion and in some cases vice versa, or serve to convert one rotary motion into another.
As a rule, a drive system of this sort consists of a toothed belt and two two toothed belt wheels. One of these wheels drives the other.

The toothed belts themselves can be laid out as either closed or open belts. Correct toothed belt tensioning is important for safe operation, for which reason an appropriate tensioning option must always be included. Toothed belt drives are suitable for applications with large travel distances and high speeds, and they’re also highly advantageous for complicated power trains in devices and machines.
